At least three new nuclear power station projects will be formally announced in Europe by December 31, 2026.
Slovakia's Prime Minister announced in late 2025 that a deal with the US for a new nuclear plant, potentially at the Bohunice site, was "signed and approved." This was followed by the US and Slovakia formally signing an intergovernmental agreement in January 2026 to cooperate on nuclear energy, including reactor activities. This development points to one potential new nuclear power station project in Europe.
